"Danny Boy" 號稱愛爾蘭民謠, 其背後，有一段說來充滿歷史恩怨情仇的由來。
英國人長年與愛爾蘭爭戰， 拓展殖民地 。愛爾蘭成年之男子皆需上戰場，保衛家園 。百年爭戰, 愛爾蘭之男子多戰死沙場 , 卻頑固執著地死守家園。Danny
Boy 藉歌聲述說戰時青年對生命的熱愛不捨與對未知命運的無奈，令人動容。
英國於1949年正式承認愛爾蘭為主權獨立國家，但卻不放棄對其北方六郡(北愛爾蘭)之主權，北愛爾蘭長期紛擾動盪乃由此而來。
